In this one-week camp, talented singers will have the opportunity to improve their vocal skills and meet other student musicians. They will work with conductors Dr. Angela Broeker and Ms. Lynnel Joy Jenkins, musicianship instructors Gretchen Liechty Lynch, Dr. Georgia Newlin, Kristen VanOllefen, and Berta Yee, Orff instructor Dr. Gary Ritcher and Movement instructor Melissa Largent.
The camp will begin on Sunday afternoon, July 20, 2008 and will conclude with an 11:00 a.m. concert on Saturday July 26, 2008. Students will be involved in choral rehearsals, musicianship and enrichment activities, and recreational activities each day. Music to be sung will be learned during the week of camp. Teachers are not responsible for pre-teaching the selections. All transportation and tickets to social events are included in the tuition fee. There will be a talent show on Friday evening.
Campers will be supervised by Jerrilyn MacDanel, camp director, and a college-aged counseling staff from James Madison's music education department.
Eligibility: The camp is open to any 10 (10 by September 1, 2008) to 18-year-old (18 on or six months prior to the camp) boys and girls who are recommended by their music teacher or choir director. Any interested singers are welcome! Directors do not need to be OAKE members to send singers to this camp.
